You might have noticed that NFL coaches up and down the USA are currently wearing brown hoodies.

The greatest tactical minds in American football have ditched their franchise's traditional colours to wear something altogether different.

Certainly, it's a change from what we are used to seeing them all wear.

But it isn't just for fashion and has been part of a long-running initiative that first started in 2011.

Why are NFL coaches wearing brown?

Every year, each NFL side dedicates one home game to be their Salute to Service match.

This takes place from gameweek nine-eleven, and it's the NFL's way of showing their gratitude to anyone who has served in the US military.

Each side also attempts to raise money that's sent to the Wounded Warrior Project, which distributes it to retired military personnel all across the country, and some is used to take them to NFL games.

As part of it, the NFL released these special hoodies for coaches that the public can also buy, with all proceeds going to the Wounded Warrior Project.

The scheme was launched 12 years ago and has raised more than $66million [£54.6m].

In a statement from earlier this year, the NFL's Commissioner, Roger Goodell, said: “We are grateful for the men and women serving in our armed forces for the many sacrifices they make every day while defending our country.
